About the Project

Throughout 2025, 39 UK-based NICEC Fellows were interviewed to capture the core of what they have learned through their extensive careers. Collectively, these contributors represent many hundreds of years of experience and their backgrounds span the full spectrum of the careers landscape.

Each contributor was asked to distil their career into two or three key learning points and to identify the persistent puzzles or "wicked problems" they find themselves repeatedly questioning.

Seminar Focus

During this session, Wendy will share the emerging themes from these rich, semi-structured conversations. The seminar is designed not just as a presentation of findings, but as a collaborative space. Attendees will be encouraged to:

  • Explore the shared insights and tensions identified by the Fellows.
  • Reflect on their own professional journeys and the lessons they have gathered.
  • Contribute to the ongoing dialogue about what it means to support career development in an ever-changing world.

This event promises to be a thoughtful moment of pause for anyone involved in the research, policy, or practice of careers, providing a rare "big picture" view of our profession's collective knowledge.
