Submissions Open: The 2026 Bill Law Memorial Student Award

The 2026 Bill Law Memorial Award is now open for submissions! We are calling on all current and recent students to showcase their original research or innovative practice in the field of career development.

Who is eligible?
You should apply if you have completed an academic programme within the last 12 months involving research or practice in career development. This includes students at Level 6 (including career leaders), PGDip/Masters/SCQF 11, PhD, or CIPD programmes. You do not need to be a NICEC member to enter.

What we are looking for
Judges are looking for work that considers contemporary themes, demonstrates critical analysis, and discusses implications for professional practice. This can be original empirical research or innovative practice that includes evaluation/feedback.

How to Enter
Entry is a two-stage process. Right now, you only need to submit an abstract (a 250-word outline or plan). Successful applicants will later be invited to write a full 3,000-word paper.

Key Dates

Abstract Submission Deadline: 28th February 2026

Full Paper Deadline (if selected): Friday 8th May 2026

Winner Announcement: Thursday 16th July 2026
