Setting the Scene: A Look Back

On the 20th November 2025 at 5pm, the session will begin with an insightful reflection by Michelle Stewart, drawing from her extensive experience writing and editing The History of the Careers Services in the UK from 1999. Michelle will set the scene for the evening, offering context on how the services have evolved, which is essential for understanding where they are heading.

Innovation from Scotland and Wales

The event will pivot to a forward-looking showcase of innovative projects and practices currently taking place in Scotland and Wales. We are thrilled to welcome two key speakers who are at the forefront of this work:

Sandra Oribine (Cheyne), National CIAG Policy & Professional Practice Lead at Skills Development Scotland, will share exciting developments from Scotland.

Nikki Lawrence, Chief Executive of Careers Wales, will detail pioneering initiatives from Wales.

They will be sharing details on a range of projects, including:

  • The development of learner profiles
  • New approaches to experiential career learning
  • Armed forces skills mapping
  • The Careerscraft project
  • Future Jobs Wales
  • Developing a prototype data intelligence hub

Our speakers won't just present the projects; they'll provide genuine reflections and insights on the journeys, covering how these ideas originated, the experiences of delivery on the ground, and the outcomes or conclusions reached.
