Professor Tony Watts

Professor Tony Watts, OBE, retired from all professional activities in November 2014. He is a NICEC Founding Fellow and Life President. He was a co-founder of CRAC, and was Director of NICEC from 1975 to 2001. He was also Visiting Professor at the University of Derby and at Canterbury Christ Church University.

His work has covered theory, policy and practice in all sectors of career education and guidance, including schools, further and higher education, and adult guidance. In later years his main interests have been in policy-related studies both nationally and internationally, and in evaluations of innovative practice.

He was consultant to a number of international organisations, and worked for OECD in 2001-02 on its Career Guidance Policy Review. He was subsequently involved in extending this review, through the World Bank, the European Commission and the European Training Foundation, to cover 55 countries. He was a consultant to the European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network, and a Board member of the International Centre for Career Development and Public Policy.
