John Gough

I am a Senior Lecturer in Career Guidance at Coventry University where I run the PGDip/MA/QCG in Career Guidance, as well as the level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development. I also teach on a range of undergraduate programmes.

My career roles have spanned practitioner, managerial and senior managerial roles, particularly in the HE sector; and I was closely involved in AGCAS from 2000 to 2005, including a stint as President from 2002 to 2004. I am currently completing a PhD at the Institute of Employment Research, University of Warwick; and my thesis concerns the professionalism and professional identity of career guidance practitioners in England.

My main research interests focus on the ways in which individuals make meaning in their lives; and I am continually fascinated by the interplay between people and their organisational, social and cultural contexts. Away from the day job, I chair a community arts organisation in Coventry; and I am also a published fiction writer.
